COOL TOOLS HELP CONSUMERS AND AGENTS

By Daniel Eaton

Creativity and innovation are the cornerstones to marketing. Whether you’re building television ad campaign for Super Bowl Sunday or for driving readers to your web site. From the outrageous propelling of helpless gerbils through the air (An outpost.com TV ad) to the creative elements that not only gain the readers’ attention but also drive them to perform a subsequent action. In the online real estate arena we are seeing such innovation.

Founded in 1995, Bamboo.com (NASDAQ: BAMB) has enlisted an impressive advisory board consisting of the Executive vice-president of Visa USA, Chairman of USWEB, and the former CEO of American Standard. If Baboo.com continues to listen to their advisors, they will without a doubt be one of the major players in the online real estate game. Earlier this month Bamboo.com launched a rather impressive tool to enhance their already quite popular "Virtual Tours". They have compressed their online virtual tours so that they can be e-mailed. This is indeed quite an accomplishment, especially given that the file sizes are under 400K and allows for The bamboo E-mail Virtual tour has smooth, automatic left or right viewing as well as a zoom feature. Give it a try and download a bamboo E-mail Virtual Tour (376K). They only drawback is that it require Windows 95/98/NT, sorry Mac users.

What make this innovative is the technology together with a relatively small file size gives it the ability to send it through normal email channels. The Realtor® can e-mail it to their client, the client can e-mail it to their friends, etc., expanding the Realtors® center of influence. This gives the agent another method to reach possible buyers and sellers, who otherwise may not have heard of them.

As a home seller, I would be impressed. I know the agent is using cutting edge technology to promote my home.

As a homebuyer, I get to see what the home looks like, other than the black and white MLS book photocopy or listing sheet. This would be extremely useful if I was relocating as touring properties is a rare and expensive commodity from across the country.

Keep and eye on this company as it grows and expands it's market share. Lookout Cyberhomes! And Cyberhomes did just that. Bamboo.com announced on September 27th an agreement between Cyberhomes and Bamboo.com where Moore Data Management, dba Cyberhomes, will endorse and promote the Bamboo Virtual Tours product. This latest announcement is heating up the competition with thier rival company Interactive Pictures Corporation (NASDAQ: IPIX).
